Hello. Tengo alguna dudilla con las correciones. En la frase 4 : When we arrived, the match started. ¿No podría utlizarse past perfect : had started? Y en las frases : The crowd cheered when the referee blew the final whistle , ¿no puede utilizarse was cheering? Lo mismo en: We couldn't use the ski slope because it hadn't snowed enough ¿en lugar del past perfect no puede usarse past continuous was snowing?. Thanks very much. Begoña

Hello Begoña,

In sentence 4: It should be 'the match started', the two actions happened at the same time. We know that because 'we got there just in time', if we use 'had started' the meaning is different, the match started before we arrived.

In sentence 2: if you use the past continuous the crowd were cheering before and after the final whistle. While 'cheered' means that it was after the final whistle.

In sentence 6:'It hadn't snowed enough' before we wanted to use the slope,
'it wasn't snowing' means at that same moment we wanted to use the slope.

I hope you can uderstand the sentences now. If not, ask again.
